Polymer Char's high-temperature Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) / Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC)
instrument is a fully-automated system that uses infrared detection to analyze the molecular weight and
chemical composition of polyolefins.
GPC-IR® is a high-performance GPC instrument that uses infrared detection to provide superior results for
the analysis of polyolefins. These results include a more stable baseline and the ability to simultaneously
measure concentration and chemical composition. GPC-IR® can be used to characterize a wide range of polyolefins,
including HDPE, PP, LDPE, LLDPE, EP copolymers, EVA, and EBA.
DETECTION:
There are three different infrared detectors available for GPC: IR4, IR5, and IR6.
The IR4 detector is the classic model and offers a broader spectral range, making it ideal for analyzing copolymers that contain carbonyl groups.
The IR5 detector has enhanced sensitivity and stability, making it a good choice for analyzing molecular weight and chemical composition.
The IR6 detector is the latest model and offers the same superior performance as IR5, plus the additional capability of measuring carbonyl groups in the band of 1740 cm-1.
AUTOMATION:
GPC-IR® is an automated GPC instrument that performs all sample preparation steps, including filling vials with solvent, removing fillers and gels, and dissolving the sample.
Here are some of the key benefits of using GPC-IR®:
Automated sample preparation: This eliminates the need for manual handling of vials or solvents, which can be time-consuming and error-prone.
Reduced risk of sample degradation: The automated sample preparation protocol helps to avoid sample degradation, which can lead to inaccurate results.
Improved workflow efficiency: GPC-IR® can significantly improve workflow efficiency by automating time-consuming tasks.
