THERMOMECHANICAL ANALYZER (TMA)

The technique of Thermo Mechanical Analysis (TMA) measures linear or volumetric changes in the dimensions of a sample as a function of time, temperature and force in a controlled atmosphere. For expansion measurements with a thermomechanical analyzer (TMA), a probe rests on a sample positioned on a stage with minimal force. Other constant force measurements include measurement of penetration, bending, tension, shrinkage, swelling, and creep.

Typical materials to be studied with the TMA instrument are such as composite materials, glass, polymers, ceramics and metals. Different sample geometries in the form of fibers, rods, films, rods or cylinders are possible to be measured with the system.

All offered TMA instruments / devices from Linseis operate according to the national and international standards such as DIN 51 005, ASTM D 3386, ASTM E 831, ASTM D 696, ISO 11359 – Parts 1 to 3.
