OPTICAL CONTACT ANGLE MEASUREMENT


Optical contact angle measurement is a versatile technique for analyzing surface and interfacial properties. It can be used to measure the contact angle of a liquid drop on a solid surface, which can be used to determine the surface energy of the solid and the work of adhesion for different liquids. This static and dynamic contact angle measurement technique, also known as the sessile drop method, is used to analyze the wettability of solids. Optical contact angle measuring instruments/devices are also known as drop shape analyzers or contact angle goniometers.
