Thermal Gradient Interaction Chromatography (TGIC) is using carbon based adsorbents to characterize the composition distribution in polyethylene copolymer. In similar approach to crystallization techniques, TGIC absorb polymer molecules in contact with the surface of the adsorbent but without expectation of co-elution.
Literally, TGIC has lower sensitivity in crystallization technique. However, it is able to analyse the amorphous region of polymers which is limited by crystallization technique. Hence, it is very useful to analyse elastomers and other amourphouspolyolefins!
