Ants Scientific AM800 Disc Mill

Laboratory Disc Mill for Hard, Medium-Hard and Brittle Materials

The Ants Scientific AM800 Disc Mill is a laboratory sample preparation system designed for the pulverization of hard, medium-hard and brittle solid materials. It can perform both pre-milling and fine grinding in batch or continuous operation, providing a versatile solution for laboratories requiring efficient and reproducible sample preparation.

The AM800 can accept feed material up to approximately 30 mm without pre-crushing. Its continuously adjustable grinding-disc gap allows users to control the grinding process and particle size. A range of grinding-disc materials is available to accommodate different sample properties and minimize potential contamination.

Key Advantages

  • Designed for hard, medium-hard and brittle materials
  • Feed size up to approximately 30 mm without pre-crushing
  • Suitable for pre-milling and fine pulverization
  • Batch or continuous operation
  • Precisely adjustable grinding-disc gap
  • Handwheel gap adjustment
  • Reproducible particle-size control
  • Grinding discs available in different materials
  • Optional heavy-metal contamination protection
  • Dust-tight grinding chamber
  • Grinding chamber can be opened for easy cleaning
  • Vacuum cleaner interface available
  • Safety interlock for grinding chamber door

Key Applications

  • Minerals & Geology – mineral samples, soil and geological materials
  • Metals & Metallurgy – metal-containing materials and concentrates
  • Glass & Ceramics – glass, ceramics and related materials
  • Agriculture & Food – selected solid agricultural and food samples
  • Environment – soil and environmental samples
  • Industrial Materials – hard and brittle solid materials

The AM800 is particularly suitable for applications requiring pre-crushing and fine pulverization in a single disc mill.

Working Principle

Sample material enters the dust-proof grinding chamber and is guided between two vertical grinding discs. One disc rotates while the other remains fixed. The discs capture the sample and apply crushing and friction forces.

The sample is progressively reduced as it moves toward the outer part of the grinding discs. Finished particles pass through the adjustable gap between the discs into the collection container.
