AM410 Planetary Ball Mill

The Ants Scientific AM410 Planetary Ball Mill is a high-energy laboratory ball mill designed for fine grinding, homogenization and advanced sample preparation of soft, medium-hard, hard, brittle, fibrous and tough materials.

Using a planetary grinding mechanism, the grinding jar rotates around its own axis while simultaneously rotating around the sun wheel in the opposite direction. This superimposed motion generates high centrifugal forces and intensive impact and friction between the grinding balls, grinding jar and sample, delivering high grinding energy.

The AM410 supports both dry and wet grinding, with wet grinding particularly suitable for applications requiring higher fineness. The system can also be used for colloidal grinding and mechanical alloying, making it a versatile solution for advanced materials research.

The manufacturer specifies a maximum feed size of approximately 15 mm and final particle sizes of approximately <0.1 µm for colloidal grinding and <1 µm for general grinding, depending on sample properties and grinding conditions.

The AM410 is particularly well suited to laboratories that require a compact, high-energy planetary ball mill with one grinding station.

Key Advantages

  • High-energy planetary grinding
The planetary movement generates intensive impact and friction forces for rapid fine grinding.
  • Submicron and nanometer-level grinding capability
The manufacturer positions the planetary ball mill series for submicron and even nanometer-level sample preparation under suitable conditions.
  • Dry and wet grinding
Wet grinding is particularly useful where higher fineness is required.
  • Suitable for advanced materials research
The AM410 is suitable for applications involving colloidal grinding, mechanical alloying and nanomaterial preparation.
  • One high-energy grinding station
The single-station configuration is well suited to laboratories performing dedicated or smaller-batch research programs.
  • Programmable multi-stage grinding
Forward and reverse operation, interval time, pause time and two different grinding periods can be programmed. Different speeds can be assigned to the two grinding stages.
  • Wide range of grinding jars
Grinding jars are available in hardened steel, stainless steel, tungsten carbide, agate, sintered aluminium oxide and zirconium oxide.
  • Suitable for extended operation
The planetary ball mill is designed for long-duration continuous sample preparation and research applications.

Applications

Some key applications:
  • Mechanical Alloying: Powder metallurgy and mechanical synthesis.
  • Geology & Mining: Fine milling of hard-brittle minerals and drill cores.
  • Advanced Ceramics: Synthesizing nanometer ceramic powders and electronic materials.
The Ants Scientific planetary ball mill range is specifically associated with applications including agriculture, plastics, ceramics, environmental research, nanomaterials, stone, soil, glass, biological samples, chemicals, building materials, mineral metallurgy, hair, sludge, polymers and coke.
