VIC-Volume
Digital Volume Correlation (DVC) Software
VIC-Volume, the latest advancement in the VIC product line, is powerful Digital Volume Correlation (DVC) software designed for non-destructive assessment of internal material deformation.
It leverages image data (slices) acquired from X-Ray, CT-Scanners, or other volumetric imaging systems to analyze a specimen subjected to an applied load.

Internal 3D Analysis and Validation
By analyzing the acquired volumetric images, VIC-Volume generates precise three-dimensional volumetric displacement and strain data. This comprehensive data is visualized as a 3D contour plot of internal deformation and can be:
- Visualized and Animated for deep understanding of material behavior.
- Extracted for critical Finite Element Analysis (FEA) validation.
The Technology: Advanced DVC
Digital Volume Correlation (DVC) is a quantitative image analysis technique that measures internal deformation. The core theory is an extension of 2D and 3D Digital Image Correlation (DIC), adding the crucial z-dimension (depth) to provide a full internal characterization of the material.
The DVC algorithm operates by tracking displacement information from small volumes called voxels (the 3D equivalent of 2D DIC’s pixel subsets).
How it Works:
- Voxel Tracking: The algorithm tracks the displacement of these voxels within a series of images.
- Image Matching: Sub-volumes (collections of voxels) are matched with optimal accuracy between the reference and deformed volumetric images.
- Metric Function: Image matching is performed by minimizing or maximizing a metric function that quantifies the level of sub-volume similarity.
