Simplified and fully automated GPC/SEC instrument
GPC-QC is a compact, high-temperature Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) instrument that can be used to quickly and easily control the quality of polyolefins in production plants. It delivers complete molecular weight distribution (MWD) information for one sample in as little as 30-40 minutes, including dissolution. The entire process is fully automated, which eliminates the need for manual handling of solvents or vials. This makes GPC-QC a valuable tool for quality control in polyolefin production plants.
In the past, the industry has relied on bulk parameters such as Melt Flow Index (MFI) and Density to control the quality of polyolefins. MFI and Density represent average molecular weight and average chemical composition, respectively. However, with the development of more complex polyolefins, these physical parameters alone may not be enough to explain the resin’s performance.

GPC-QC can provide significant value to the production control lab by measuring the whole Molecular Weight Distribution (MWD) of the sample. MWD provides information about the distribution of molecular weights in a sample, which can be used to predict the resin’s properties, such as its strength, toughness, and melting point.
